Executive Branch - Lame Duck

Here are a few promises Rove and his pet goat made to us in the week prior to the election.

1. Dems would not win the Senate(lie)

  1. Dems would not win the House (lie)
  2. Rove will not be involved in the 2008 Presidential Campaign
  3. Rumsfeld will stay through 08 (lie)
  4. Cheney will stay through 08

and everyone hears the crocodile ticking on item 5.

And lie #5 is precursor to lie #3.

George Bush is not getting his way, and has all but threatened to take his ball and go home. Problem one: the constitutional powers of the presidency (the ball, so to speak) are only on
loan to him.  Problem two: his "home" is a telegenic "ranch" in which he never really has and probably never will choose to live.
And the next two lame duck years promise only mounting aggaravation for the Legacy Pledge in Chief.

The obvious solution for the Bush Dynasty: "OPERATION BAIL OUT JUNIOR...AGAIN".

We already see step one: recycled members of the Poppy Pork-Rinds administration stepping up to provide junior with a guidance of the proverbial beltway 'wise men'. These names and faces reassure the so-called Reagan Democrats and moderate republicans who always thought Junior was going to effectively tap his father's advice (oops)

Step two comes after Christmas: Cheney steps down and Jeb is put forward for V.P..  This fires up the christian base.

The Poppy/Jeb crew then side step lame duck status by proceeding as if Jeb's accendency in '08 is a forgone conclusion. The Poppy/Jeb Administration will get some credit for any bipartisan progress made in the next two years while having mostly clean hands with regard to Junior's failures.

Junior will remain in office, of course, but his decider-ing days will be mostly over. And he's probably fine with that.

My only real question: Will Jeb and Poppy make a place for Rove in "OPERATION: BAIL OUT JUNIOR....AGAIN"?  Item 3 above might turn out to be the first lie Karl never told us.

Very insightful observations.

The interesting thing is that... (none / 0)

...all the pundits are actually SAYING that it looks like Bush 41 is going to (try) and bail him out.

That would be quite a national spectacle wouldn't it? I suppose he'd go down as the worst president in history bar-none. Not that he wouldn't already but he's still only in the low 20s I think.

Cheney will stay through 08 (none / 0)

Bush told him last week he was doing a fine job. Wonder who Bush is talking to about replacing the VP  after all being told you doing a fine job seem to mean the ax is in hand
